DTI-Agusan Sur hosts Consumer Run 2024

SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur – In celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month last October, the Department of Trade and Industry - Agusan del Sur (DTI-ADS), in partnership with the Pagpakabana sa Katungod Katawhan sa Agusan del Sur Consumers Cooperative (PAKKADS CO) and the San Francisco Consumer Cooperative (SFCO), recently conducted the Consumer Run 2024, with the assembly area at the New Bus Terminal in San Francisco, this province.

The event, which started at 3:30 AM, attracted approximately 750 participants who competed in various categories, including 1 kilometer (km), 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km. After all categories were completed at 6:30 AM, a brief awarding ceremony followed, where the top three winners from each category were recognized. The organizers also took the opportunity to express their gratitude to the event’s partners and sponsors.

Also present during the activity were Marson Jan S. Dolendo, provincial director of DTI-Agusan del Sur; Maximo Tutor, president of PAKKADS CO; and Derby Barrera the president of SFCO. They lauded the participants and emphasized the importance of consumer education and advocacy.

The event was made possible by the support of numerous sponsors. Major sponsors included DLT Rooftop Restobar, Philsaga, Bureau of Fire Protection Agusan Del Sur PHQ, St. Francis Xavier College, Xavier Knights, Xavier College Criminal Justice Program, JMJ Solar, Gardose Drugstore, Agusan del Sur Teachers’ Community MPC (ASTECCO), JM Lacorte Construction, Theariz Construction (which provided the generator for the event), ARQ Builders, and Nature’s Spring (which supplied 500 mL bottled water to the event facilitating team).

Minor sponsors included Congressional District 1 of Agusan del Sur, ALACC Corporation, Grace Ong Enterprises, SGREL Corporation, DBMR Builders, ESCLETO Marketing, LJP Refrigeration and Airconditioning Services, EMCOR Bayugan Branch, Local Government Unit (LGU) Talacogon, GB Water Refilling Station, RAF Builders, Southway College of Technology (SOCOTECH), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), K-Prime, Cave City Eagles Club, Cave City Lady Eagles Club, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Caraga. Clean Inc. played a crucial role in aiding the communications aspect of the event.

Several partners also supported the event, including LGU San Francisco, the provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), Barangay LGU Hubang, BLGU Sta. Ana, BLGU San Isidro, Philippine National Police - San Francisco Agusan del Sur (PNP-SFADS), Bureau of Fire Protection - San Francisco Agusan del Sur (BFP-SFADS), and the San Francisco Emergency Response (SAFER) team.

This year’s Consumer Welfare Month with the theme, “Be Smart, Assert Your Consumer Rights,” advocated for consumer education and the assertion of consumer rights. The Consumer Run 2024 served as a key event in promoting this advocacy, bringing together the community in a celebration of health, fitness, and consumer empowerment.
