SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- In a glittering ceremony that celebrated excellence in public service, Froilan U. Caturla, port manager of the Philippine Ports Authority's (PPA) Port Management Office (PMO) of Surigao, was awarded the Environmental Stewardship Award at the 3rd OFW Party List Impact Awards for 2024.

The event, held on September 5 at the Manila Ballroom of Marriott Hotel in Newport, Pasay City, recognized individuals who made significant contributions to government efficiency and public service delivery.

The award specifically highlighted Caturla's outstanding efforts in promoting sustainable port operations and implementing resilient port development programs.

His initiatives set a new standard for environmental responsibility in the maritime industry, proving that economic progress and ecological conservation can go hand in hand.

His inspiring journey from a security guard to a distinguished port executive was specially underscored and celebrated during the award ceremony. His remarkable achievement served as a testament to the power of perseverance and dedication to public service.

Caturla’s nomination for this prestigious award came from the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), underlining the far-reaching impact of his work.
