DA-13 conducts reg’l agricultural summit in Surigao City

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The first-ever Regional Cluster Summit of the Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation Program (DA-F2C2) on September 17-18 in Surigao City.

This event served as a convergence for both large and small players in the agriculture sector’s clustering and consolidation industry in the Caraga region.

Anchored on the theme, "Sa Pagkahiusa, Kalambuan Makabot Na," the summit emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnerships in achieving agricultural success. It also provided an avenue for knowledge sharing, market linkages, and networking among various cooperatives across different commodities.

Attended by leading clusters and cluster leaders in the region, the two-day summit featured several activities, including presentations on best practices in clustering and consolidation from successful industry leaders, seminars on credit and finance opportunities led by the Agricultural Credit and Policy Council (ACPC).

Also, market linkage facilitation by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) - Enhanced Partnerships Against Hunger and Poverty (EHPAP) Program and Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (DA-AMAD). The Cluster Development Plan was also reviewed as a refresher for participants.

Rebecca R. Atega, DA Caraga regional technical director for operations, expressed her hope that the summit would enable participants to share resources, knowledge, and support, thereby fostering a stronger and more resilient community.

"F2C2 is the way forward through agribusiness, so we should work with integrity. If we help our clusters to be responsible, our government is there to support us,” Dir. Atega said. (DA-Caraga/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
