DOLE-13 releases P3.5M livelihood projects to Agusan Sur farmer
LORETO, Agusan del Sur -- In its continuous effort to uplift the lives of farmer associations in the province, the Department of Labor and Employment—Agusan del Sur Field Office (DOLE-ADSFO) recently released P3.5 million worth of livelihood projects to three associations in the municipality of Loreto, this province.
The local government unit (LGU) officials, along with the DOLE-ADSFO personnel, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) staff, and members of the three associations, namely Sitio Moto Farmers Association, Sitio Sampinit Farmers Association, and Upper Tawilon Farmers Association, attended the release of the livelihood projects.
Representing DOLE-ADSFO, Swezil B. Abdon, livelihood development specialist, expressed gratitude to LGU-Loreto for the continuous support in implementing the department's existing programs and services.
“DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program is a flagship program that aims to help active associations by providing livelihood projects to them,” she said.
She also emphasized a challenge to the beneficiaries.
“The department hopes that you will sustain these projects because it is a great opportunity for you to alleviate your economic status," she added.
Elmer C. Bercero, president of Sitio Sampinit Farmers Association, gave his heartfelt appreciation to DOLE for the rare opportunity given to them.
“With the help of this livelihood, we commit to sustaining this project. Thank you so much, DOLE," he said.
Sitio Moto Farmers Association and Sitio Sampinit Farmers Association both received P1,500,000 each for their pre- and post-harvest facilities, while Upper Tawilon Farmers Association received P500,000 for their pre-harvest facilities.
