Wage board trains entrepreneurs of Agusan Norte

Butuan City – Anchored on the theme “Innovate to Elevate,” the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) Caraga recently conducted a workshop on ISTIV PAP (industrious, systematic, time-conscious, innovative, and strong value for work - Productivity Awareness Program) to 36 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Agusan del Norte in celebration of the MSME Development Week.

ISTIV-PAP is a values-driven human resource intervention for quality and productivity improvement that is rooted in the five ideal attributes of a productive individual.

The workshop is in convergence with the Department of Trade and Industry - Agusan del Norte headed by its Dir. Lorijane D. Sacote who emphasized to the MSMEs the importance of values in every establishment, not only to the employers but to be imparted to the employees as well. Furthermore, the provincial director expressed her gratitude to RTWPB Caraga for the initiative on sharing the values needed for MSMES essential for a productive working environment.

During his welcoming message, Board Secretary VI Earl D. Dela Victoria shared to the MSMEs that the seminar workshop would teach them the values which owners must possess as the face of their own businesses.

“You are the face of your business and you are the role model of your employees. If you possess wrong attitudes or attributes, it will be absorbed by your employees and eventually will reflect in your businesses,” he said.

Dela Victoria, together with Cornelius Mahinay and Sara May C. Dahuyla, discussed to the participants the five ideal attributes of a productive individual, The activity tested the participants’ focus, understanding of the needed output, and cooperation as they created as many output as they could contribute in a limited period of time. Moreover, it also taught them to never compromise quantity over quality of the output.

Republic Act No. 9501, Section 16 is known as the Magna Carta for MSMEs that declares the second week of July of each year as MSME Development Week. This observance reinforces awareness on the primacy of MSMEs in nation-building. (RTWPB-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
