TESDA-13 strengthens programs for students
The event was headlined by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Undersecretary Vidal D. Villanueva III, deputy director general for TESDA operations, who delivered an impassioned message on the role of the center in shaping the future of Agusan del Sur’s workforce and economy.
Villanueva’s speech centered on the profound impact of innovation and technology on the lives of students and the agricultural sector of the province.
"Dili gyud mabiyaan sa innovation and technology (innovation and technology cannot be prevented)," he emphasized, asserting that continuous learning and advancement are critical to staying competitive in the modern world.
He described the RTIC as a "regalo," a gift from TESDA that will serve as a source of inspiration for students to pursue new skills and knowledge. These skills, Villanueva noted, will not only give them a competitive edge in Caraga or the Philippines, but across the globe.
The RTIC, designed to be a hub for modern and cutting-edge training and skill development, represents TESDA’s commitment to providing high-quality, effective, and efficient technical vocational education and training. Villanueva urged the audience to fully utilize the center’s facilities and equipment to their maximum potential.
"Let’s maximize every facility
and equipment that will be given in the innovation center," he encouraged,
stressing that the resources provided are crucial for building a stronger and
more capable workforce.
Addressing the students directly, Villanueva underscored TESDA’s mission to elevate lives through education. "Mangandoy ta nga ang inyong kinabuhi mausab (we aim that your lives will improve)," he said, urging them to dream of a better future. He encouraged them to venture beyond Agusan del Sur in search of opportunities but reminded them to never forget their roots.
"Go out from Agusan del Sur, but do not forget to come home often and take care of your respective families," he added, reinforcing the importance of family and community amidst the pursuit of personal success.
Villanueva also reminded students to dedicate their achievements to their loved ones and their home province. "As you learn your skills and develop your competencies, make sure nga ang atong regaluhan sa tanan natong mga achievements kay ang atong pamilya ug ang atong pinalanggang probinsya sa Agusan del Sur," the undersecretary said, reaffirming the connection between personal growth and community development.
The ceremony was attended by key government officials, including Executive Assistant Michael Leo C. Torralba who represented Provincial Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr.; Public Employment Services Office Manager Divina Lagumbay representing Congressional Representatives of 1st and 2nd districts of Agusan del Sur Alfelito M. Bascug and Adolph Edward G. Plaza; Vice Mayor Jesusimo L. Ronquillo, representing Mayor Frederick Mark M. Mellana; Punong Barangay Zissa Vanessa Roldan of Patin-ay; TESDA Caraga Regional Director Florencio F. Sunico, Jr.; TESDA Agusan del Sur Provincial Director Remegias G. Timonio; members of the TESDA Advisory Council (TAC); as well as stakeholders and partners from various sectors.
The program culminated in a powerful and symbolic moment as leaders gathered to bury the RTIC project plans into the ground, signifying the planting of seeds that will foster growth, innovation, and lasting progress for Agusan del Sur. This act was followed by the signing of a formal commitment of support by Agusan del Sur’s local officials which underscored the unity and determination of the community to see this vision through.
The RTIC is not just another facility as it also represents a bold leap forward in technical vocational education and training, poised to empower individuals with the skills they need to thrive in a global economy while driving the advancement of their home province. As a beacon of opportunity, the center is set to transform lives, inspiring a new generation of skilled innovators who will help shape a brighter future for Agusan del Sur.
