Agusan Norte solon approves budget for salary hike of prov’l gov’t workers

BUTUAN CITY -- The employees of the province of Agusan del Norte will expect for a salary increase after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved Provincial Ordinance No. 709-2024 entitled,  ‘An Ordinance Authorizing the Supplemental Budget No. 5 of the General Fund and Supplement Budget No. 2 of the Special Account Fund of the Province of Agusan del Norte, CY 2024 where the province allocated P22,737,733.25 and another P117,038.50 as funds for the implementation of the first tranche of its salary adjustment.”

This is in accordance with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s release of Executive Order No. 64 which ordered the increase in wages for all government workers.

The implementation of the first tranche of the updated salary will be effective no earlier than August 2, 2024 in accordance with Section 325(g) of RA No. 7160 which stated that salary increases cannot be retroactive.

In addition, it’s also clarified that only regular, casual, contractual, appointive and elective employees are eligible for the salary increase.

The purpose of this is to help the employees’ financial stability and measure the government's ability to keep pace with private establishments regarding wages. (PLGU-Agusan del Norte/PIA-Agusan del Norte)
