(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Saturday, 19 July 2025) As of 3:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “CRISING” was located at 530 km east of Juban, Sorsogon (13.0°N, 128.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h. Tropical Depression Crising is currently affecting Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the rest of Mindanao. Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to TD Crising. Flash floods or landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rainfall. Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Caraga will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, also due to the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be moderate from the southwest to west, with moderate seas (wave height: 1.2 to 2.5 meters).

1K trees planted on Arbor Day

BUTUAN CITY –In line with the celebration of Arbor Day, a thousand trees were planted at Brgy. Guinabsan, Buenavista in Agusan del Norte by more than 209 government employees spearheaded by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office.

Eduardo P. Makiling, who authored Municipal Ordinance No.035-2023 declaring every last Friday of June as Arbor Day in Buenavista, expressed his gratitude to all participants representing the 25 barangays of the town, including the punong barangays, all local government offices, and national government agencies, and SB Member Bernardo S. Galapin for taking the time to support the local effort of preserving the environment by planting trees and for being part in the first celebration of the local observance of Arbor Day. 

Mayor Joselito T. Roble, represented by Glenn S. Jaen, municipal information officer said, “Let us make this activity today as our personal way of paying back to Mother Earth.”  

Meanwhile, Rhea B. Luangco demonstrated the proper way of transplanting the seedlings composed of Palawan Cherries and assorted fruit trees.

The barangay council of Guinabsan headed by Punong Barangay Roel P. Galinato thanked everyone present and committed to help maintain the young trees and ensure that they will all survive.
