Port of Surigao launches electronic payment system

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- The Port Management Office of Surigao launched the PPA Electronic Payment (ePayment) system and now accepts digital payments.

As shared in the recent Port Management Advisory Council (PMAC) meeting, the digital initiative marked a critical shift in the way port transactions are conducted, promising enhanced efficiency and convenience for all stakeholders.

The PPA Electronic Payment Portal (EPP) is set to revolutionize financial transactions at ports of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) by providing a centralized platform for cashless payments. This innovative system allows port users to settle their dues anytime and anywhere through the internet, effectively eliminating the need for physical presence and cash handling.

One of the key strengths of the EPP is its seamless integration with PPA's existing online systems, including electronic Accreditation System (eAS), electronic Permit Management System (ePMS), and the internet-based Port Operations and Receipting for Terminals System (iPORTS).

This digital transformation initiative by the PPA is expected to significantly reduce processing times, minimize human error, and enhance transparency in port operations.

Furthermore, by reducing physical contact and paper-based transactions, the system contributes to environmental sustainability and promotes public health safety. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
