DOST improves productivity of local entrepreneurs in Surigao Norte
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Surigao del Norte recently wrapped up the second phase of consultancy inception for its Manufacturing Productivity Extension Program (MPEX) on April 25.
The MPEX program aims to enhance the growth and productivity among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.
In the inception phase, Engr. Baby R. Lim from Summit Consultancy and Research Services, together with Levielyn O. Boholst of DOST-Caraga and Joverth A. Butcon Jr. of DOST- SDN, conducted inception visits to the four MPEX beneficiaries in mainland municipalities namely, the Francis Bakeshop and JB Bakeshop in Mainit, Tonyts Food Products in Malimono, and Sean Kris Food Products in Surigao City.
These firms made significant strides in productivity based on the consultants' recommendations, with the consulting team providing technical assistance to address operational challenges.
With the successful completion of the inception phase, the next steps will involve individual progress reporting sessions, focusing on identifying areas for improvement. Subsequent stages will delve into value engineering, root cause analyses, and the implementation of short and long-term recommendations, with ongoing monitoring of progress.
Also, the MPEX program is designed to enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability for MSMEs, aiming to produce superior products, reduce operational costs, create safer work environments, and develop skilled manpower. Through collaboration with Summit Consultancy and Research Services, DOST Caraga's MPEX initiative taps a pool of experts to improve production processes, quality control, and marketing strategies.
