Dinagat Islands gears up for DTI’s competitiveness index cycle

In preparation for the 2024 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index Cycle (CMCI), the Department of Trade and Industry in the Province of Dinagat Islands rolled out to the local government units (LGUs) of the province the CMCI at DokMee’s Hostel, Brgy. Cuarinta, San Jose.

Ryan Kim P. Magsigay, regional CMCI focal person of DTI-Caraga, led a discussion on the CMCI tool for data-driven and evidence-based local governance that highlighted on the five pillars of CMCI namely, economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resilience, and innovation, along with their corresponding scoring methods.

Dir. Roberto Zandro J. Olaguer of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) also discussed the research and development programs of DOST designed to assist LGUs in improving their scores under the pillar of innovation.

Jose Wilbert Gorgonio and Loejun Y. Patual, CMCI focal persons of LGU-General Luna of Surigao del Norte, representing the 5th-6th class municipality, and LGU San Jose representing the 3rd-4th class municipality, respectively, shared their best practices as top performers during the 2023 CMCI.

Furthermore, all seven LGUs in Dinagat Islands were recognized based on their rankings from the previous year’s performance. (DTI-PDI/PIA-Dinagat Islands)
