FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Agusan Sur authorities yield grams of shabu

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- The dedication and commitment of the personnel from San Francisco Municipal Police Station (MPS) as the lead unit and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) has paved the way for a successful operation of the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.  

Said personnel executed the buy-bust operation on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at about 10:19 PM in Purok-4A, Brgy. 5, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, resulting in the apprehension of one suspect and the seizure of illicit substances.

This anti-illegal drugs operation resulted in the confiscation of the following items:

a. Four pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be Shabu with an estimated weight of two grams and estimated SDP of P13,600.

b. Two pieces of aluminum foil strip; and 

c. Once piece of five hundred peso bill (P500) buy-bust money bearing serial number HX838984.

The arrested suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of San Francisco MPS for proper disposition. 

According to Police Colonel Jovito Canlapan, provincial director of Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office (ADSPPO), the law enforcement agencies are committed to ensuring that all necessary procedures and legal steps are followed to maintain the integrity of the case.

"We encouraged those struggling with drug dependency to consider rehabilitation as a path towards recovery and a drug-free life," said Canlapan.

"Further, we are calling for collaboration between law enforcement and individuals, emphasizing the shared responsibility of creating a society free from the harmful impacts of illegal drugs," he added.
