Over 1.6K individuals in crisis receive financial assistance in Surigao City
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- A total of 1,698 residents from mainland and island barangays in Surigao City received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) during the payout distribution on January 30 in Surigao City.
Each beneficiary received the amount of P3,000 under the program on Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
This program provided immediate cash assistance to the individuals and families who are on crisis and unable to maintain basic and other living expenses.
Judith Patinga, one of the beneficiaries from Barangay Buenavista, was thankful to all government officials for their collective efforts to respond to the needs of the constituents, saying, "ako isa ka beneficiary sa AICS nga dako na pasalamat kan Senadora Imee Marcos, kan Congressman Ace Barbers, kan Governor Lyndon Barbers, kan Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao. Mapasalamaton ako na dako kay naka tabang ini sa ako bata pagpabayad sa skwelahan, nagpasalamat ako nan dako karadjaw."
The activity was also in collaboration with the office of Senator Imee Marcos, provincial government of Surigao del Norte, and the city government of Surigao.
Sen. Marcos, in her speech read by a representative, quoted that the AICS program under Senator Marcos Care has become a symbol of hope to many, specially to those who are financially challenged.
"AICS program is continuing and even expanding to somehow lessen financial difficulties to individuals in crisis," the representative said.
Meanwhile, Gov. Barbers and Mayor Dumlao vowed to continuously support all the programs of the the financial crisis and uplift the standard of living of all Surigaonons. (Surigao City- PIO/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
