Surigao port streamlines business processes

By Susil Ragas

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Port Management Office of Surigao has recently launched its online appointment and scheduling system to streamline processes and enhance the ease of doing business at its ports.

This innovative system enabled its clients to efficiently schedule appointments with the port of Surigao, particularly when applying for accreditation as a port services provider and a permit to operate (PTO) for ancillary services.

According to Froilan Caturla, port manager, the timing of the launch was significant since a number of existing PTOs and registered accreditation certificates already expired on December 31, 2023.

With the said launch, the port is now ready to handle workloads from the expected surge of clients seeking to renew accreditation certificates and PTOs.

“I encouraged our clients to take advantage of this streamlined service and visit our official PMO Surigao website at www.ppasurigao.weebly.com, preferably using the Microsoft Edge browser for best results,” Caturla said.

From there, clients can access the Online Appointment System link to expedite the application and/or renewal process. While walk-in applicants will continue to be accommodated, clients with pre-scheduled appointments generated through the Online Appointment System will be given priority.

Current regulations stipulate that all PTOs and accreditation certificate holders must initiate the renewal process within 60 days before expiration. Failure to comply with this requirement could result in delays or even disruptions to their operations. (PIA-Surigao del Norte, with a report from PMO-Surigao)
