15 wanted persons fall to Caraga cops

BUTUAN CITY -- Eight most wanted persons (MWPs) and seven others were arrested following the one-day manhunt operations conducted by the police operatives across the region on January 13.

Based on the report from the Regional Operations Division, the Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (PPO) topped the record with five arrested individuals; followed by Surigao del Norte PPO with four; Agusan del Sur PPO with two; while Butuan City Police Office, Surigao del Sur PPO, Dinagat Islands PPO and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)13 captured one each.

Police Brigadier General Kirby John B. Kraft, Police Regional Office 13 director said that among those arrested was Salvador M. Dumaplin, 48 years old, a resident of Brgy. Ambago, Butuan City, and tagged as the number four MWP in the region.

The suspect was arrested by the personnel of Butuan City Police Station (CPS) 3 together with Montevista Municipal Police Station and CIDG-Davao de Oro-Provincial Field Unit, around 1:00 PM in Brgy. New Visayas, Montevista, Davao de Oro.

He was charged with statutory rape under Art. 266-A of the Revised Penal Code as amended by RA No. 11648 docketed under Criminal Case No. 2023-560 issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 1, Hall of Justice, Brgy. Libertad, Butuan City dated May 29, 2023 without recommended bail.

Meanwhile, Rito U. Navarro, male, 77 years old, resident of Brgy. Poblacion, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, and listed as top 10 MWP in Caraga, was nabbed by the personnel of Lianga MPS, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)13 and Provincial Intelligence Team-Surigao del Sur (PIT-SDS) around 8:20 AM in his residence. 

His apprehension was based on an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Branch 28, Lianga, Surigao Del Sur for rape in relation to RA No. 7610 docketed under criminal case number L-2434 dated August 12, 2012 with no bail recommended.

“We commend the efforts of our PNP personnel for these successful law enforcement operations against the fugitives from justice. Arresting them ensures that no one is above the law and that anyone shall be held accountable for the commission of crimes,” PBGen. Kraft said. (PNP-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
