DOLE job fair instantly hires 120 applicants in Butuan City 

BUTUAN CITY – A total of 120 job seekers were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during the Mega Job Fair on December 1, 2023 simultaneously held at the Robinsons Mall and Gaisano Mall, all in Butuan City, as well as in Taganito HPAL in Surigao del Norte, and Greenstone Resources Corporation in Surigao City, in celebration of the 90th founding anniversary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). 

Some 393 applicants were registered and subject to interview by the participating local establishments and overseas employers offering more than 3,000 job vacancies. With the positive turn-out of the activity, the region posted 31 percent of HOTS.

The first hired-on-the-spot was James Andales, who applied at Wing-On Corporation. He bared that it is his first time to work in a company and expressed his gratitude to his employer and to DOLE - Caraga. 

“Napasayon among pagpangita ug trabaho tungod niining Job Fair nga gipahigayon sa DOLE Caraga. Dako akong pasalamat sa Wing-on ug sa DOLE kay first time nako makatrabaho (It made our job searching easier because of the job vacancies offered during the Job Fair by DOLE. I’m thankful to Wing-on and DOLE, as this was my first time to get employed),” Andales said. 

DOLE-Caraga regional director, Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao, shared in his opening speech that the agency is thankful to all participating employers for their strong commitment and partnership with DOLE - Caraga. 

“On behalf of DOLE - Caraga, thank you for offering a decent work for all Caraganons,” said Dir. Suyao.

Also present in the celebration were 19 farmers association and cooperatives, informal sector micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and individual DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) beneficiaries who displayed array of products through the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa who earned total sales of P65,410.50 throughout the day. 

Anchored on the theme: “Serbisyong Mabilis at Matapat sa Bagong Pilipinas,” DOLE Caraga conducted series of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantages/Displaced (TUPAD) Workers’ payouts amounting to P32,752,300 to 9,051 beneficiaries and livelihood grant amounting to P23,520,682.73 to 1,012 beneficiaries all over the region, from December 1 to 8, 2023. (LDS, ALI/LEO III, DOLE-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
