FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Nutrition council declares Tandag City as consistent nat’l nutrition awardee

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – The city government of Tandag, under the administration of Mayor Roxanne Pimentel, has been declared as a “Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN)” by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET). Endorsed by the National Nutrition Council Regional Nutrition Committee (NNC-RNC).

In October 2023, the LGU was also a recipient of the said award that underscored the city's sustained efforts in championing nutrition and fostering a healthy environment.

Meanwhile, the National Nutrition Council (NNC)-Caraga declared the City Nutrition Action Officer (CMNAO) of Tandag, Reyveen John B. Geli was as the national winner in the recently concluded National Search for the Outstanding City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (C/MNAO).

In a that a letter signed by the National Nutrition Council Executive Director and Assistant Secretary, Azucena M. Dayanghirang, it congratulated the local government unit of Tandag through its active Mayor Roxanne C. Pimentel for the excellent performance of the Local government unit (LGU) with CNAO Geli as local nutrition focal point.

This year’s national validation evaluated the ten (10) regional contenders, of which Geli emerged as the national winner in which he was assessed on six dimensions, namely, (1) coordination; (2) orientation; (3) advocacy and implementation; (3) planning; (4) documentation; (5) resource generation; and (6) capacity development.

In 2021, Geli was the region's outstanding CNAO and also a national finalist.

Mary Joy Galolo added another layer of pride to the LGU’s   achievements as she received a certificate of recognition for her outstanding role as the city nutrition program coordinator.
