FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

434 families in Dinagat Islands benefit from electrification program

BUTUAN CITY -- The National Electrification Administration (NEA), through the Dinagat Islands Electric Cooperative (DIELCO), recently kick-started the electrification of the 18 remote and far-flung puroks and sitios in the province of Dinagat Islands under the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) with project cost of P36,302,015.85, benefitting a total of 434 households in the province.

This served as realization of electrification as a consistent flagship program and priority policy of the government that ensured sufficient and affordable access to electricity as a vital element for economic prosperity and enhancing the quality of life of the Filipinos, especially the marginalized households in remote areas and island locations such as Dinagat Islands.

DIELCO, in collaboration with the Association of Philippine Electric Cooperative (APEC), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other concerned agencies, lately completed the electrification of Purok 4B Rubenian Chapter, Sitio Cambinliw, Barangay Santiago in Loreto town of this province.

Mayor Doandre Bill A. Ladaga of Loreto expressed gratitude to DIELCO for providing electricity to the sitio that benefitted 60 households.

“Dako kaayo akong pasalamat sa DIELCO ug sa uban ahensya sa gobernyo nga naghatag katumanan dianing pagpasiga sa Sitio Cambinliw. Malipayon kaayo ang mga lumulupyo sa Purok 4B kay natuman na gayud ang ilang pangandoy nga maka kuryente na. [I am indeed thankful to DIELCO and its partner government agencies for providing electricity to Sitio Cambinliw. The people of Purok 4B are so happy because finally they already have electricity],” Mayor Ladaga said.

Punong Barangay Efren Eupina of Barangay Del Pilar, Cagdianao town extended his appreciation to the government knowing that his constituents at Purok 7 Sitio Manoligao can better celebrate the holiday season this year with electricity now available within our roof.

DIELCO also shared the ongoing implementation of SEP to the following sites and their team is doing its best to fast track the completion of these areas in the province, namely:
