PMO Surigao champs annual parol competition

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte --The Port Management Office (PMO) of Surigao showcased anew its unmatched artistry and creativity by clinching the top spot in the city of Surigao's annual parol competition for the second consecutive year.

PMO Surigao secured the grand prize with its entry being honored as the Best Parol, while the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office claimed the second and third positions, respectively.

Crafted from biodegradable and recyclable materials such as sawdust, cardboard boxes, dried coconut fruit bunch, bamboo, and similar eco-friendly components, PMO Surigao's entry perfectly embodied this year's competition theme, "Pasko Nan Paglaum sa Padajon na Pagbangon nan mga Batang Surigaonon (Christmas of Hope for the Continuing Rise of the People of Surigao).”

The winning masterpiece, designed primarily by Cedric Labastida of the PMO's Engineering Services Division, not only reflected PMO Surigao’s commitment to sustainability but also resonated the spirit of hope and resilience for the people of Surigao. (PPA-PMO Surigao/ PIA-Surigao del Norte)
