Authorities arrest drug personality in Tandag

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- A high-value target (HVT) on illegal drugs was successfully arrested in Brgy. Telaje, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur on November 14, 2023, through the joint intense operation between Tandag City Police Station (CPS) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Surigao del Sur Provincial Office (PDEA - SDSPO).

Dindo Abellanosa, PDEA-13 information officer, said, “The authorities conducted an operation against a drug personality identified as Michel Cuanan Tajonera, through Search Warrant No. 2023-71 dated November 9, 2023.”

Based on the report, upon apprehension, a meticulous search led to the confiscation of crucial items linked to a suspected drug trade, to wit:

1.  nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu;

2.  one matchbox commando containing the aforementioned sachets;

3.  assorted lighters - a blue lighter without a head, a dark blue lighter with a head, and a yellow lighter without a head - were found in various pockets and locations within the suspect's vicinity; and
4. one Realme 13 cellular phone discovered in the suspect's possession.

The estimated total weight of the confiscated shabu was approximately 5 grams worth P34,000, a substantial amount indicative of distribution and trafficking activities.

The report added that Tajonera will face charges under Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165, which pertained to illegal drug possession and trafficking.

Meanwhile, Abellanosa noted that the operation stood as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the law enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace in the region, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the communities. (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
