PRO-13 to deploy over 6,700 cops for BSKE

BUTUAN CITY -- Per record of the regional operations division of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-13, a total of 6,796 police regional office personnel were set to provide maximum security coverage and public safety operations for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023, following the ceremonial multi-agency send-off and turnover of security forces on Monday, October 23.

Along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, PNP special action force, and Department of Education, PRO-13 ensured the deployment of more troops to the different polling stations across the region.

The figures were comprised of 995 personnel from the regional headquarters; 770 from Agusan del Norte police provincial office (PPO), 971 from Agusan del Sur PPO; 1,112 from Surigao del Norte PPO; 1,080 from Surigao del Sur PPO; 405 from Dinagat Islands PPO; 791 from Butuan City police office; and 672 from regional mobile force company.

Atty. Francisco G. Pobe, regional election director of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Caraga, received the deployed personnel and logistical assets and underscored their substantial roles in the success of the electoral process.

In addition, the Regional Maritime Unit 13, Regional Medical and Dental Unit 13, and Regional Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit 13, all sent their personnel for deployment to support the upcoming elections.

On the other hand, PRO-13 regional director PBGen. Kirby John B. Kraft expressed his optimism that these 2023 elections will become safe and secure, just like in the previous electoral process.

“As guardians of our democratic ideals, we face together the challenge of ensuring the safety and security of the voters and those involved in the entire process. The triumph of these elections is not solely our own; rather, it is a collective victory,” Dir. Kraft added. (PRO-13/PIA Caraga)
