Cops arrest suspect on recent killing in Tago town
TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur - With the relentless effort exerted by the Philippine National Police in Surigao del Sur, the suspect in the killing incident that recently took place in Barangay Cayale, Tago, Surigao del Sur, was successfully apprehended and the case on robbery with homicide was also filed against the suspect on September 2, a PNP official confirmed.
Based on the report released by the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO-SDS), under the command of Police Colonel Harry Domingo, it revealed that through a reliable information relayed to the authorities from a concerned citizen, the operatives of Provincial Intelligence Unit and Tago Municipal Police Station immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation that led to the successful arrest of the suspect identified as Mark Janrey Abarico, also known as Jan-Jan in Tudela, Misamis Occidental. The suspect is 31 years old, male, and resident of Purok Sonny`s Farm, Brgy. Mabua, Tandag City.
The suspect’s successful arrest resulted from the persistence of SDS PNP to
bring justice to the victim. Rest assured that we will not stop to chase those
criminals and put them behind bars for us to have a peaceful and safe place to
live,” PCol. Domingo said.
The victim was identified as Vincent Grace Tagud Historia alias “Janine,”
31 years old, female, single, businesswoman, and a resident of Purok Narra,
Sitio Himat-e, Brgy. Cayale, Tago, SDS.
Based on the investigation, the victim accordingly visited her farm around
08:00 a.m. on August 29, 2023. However, she did not return home that day which
prompted the family to report her missing on August 30, 2023. As per the
revelation of the witnesses, the suspect was seen leaving the poultry farm of
the victim at about 09:00 a.m. on August 29, 2023.
At around 8:30 a.m. of August 31, 2023, operatives of Tago Municipal Police
Station conducted a follow-up investigation at the place of the incident and
thoroughly searched the premises of the poultry farm, which resulted for the
investigating team to find the lifeless body of the victim lying face down in a
secluded and shrubby portion of the poultry farm, with her upper and lower
garments stripped off, already bloated and in a state of decomposition.
The official confirmed that before the case was filed against the suspect, he
was arrested for violation of Article 293, Section 1 of the Revised Penal Code
or Robbery with Violence Against or Intimidation of Persons on January 16,
