AgNor triumphs with 'beyond compliant' in Gawad KALASAG

BUTUAN CITY -- The provincial government of Agusan del Norte, through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), proudly received the "Beyond Compliant Award" in this year's 2023 Regional Gawad KALASAG Search for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance.

With a commendable rating of 2.79%, the province was honored by the Caraga Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC)dled by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) for its exceptional performance, which significantly contributed to the commitment of the region to achieve a safer, more adaptive, and disaster-resilient communitiers.

The Agusan del Norte Governor, Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante, was represented by Vice Governor Enrico R. Corvera, along with PDRRM officer Erma Suyo and personnel from the PDRRMO,  all together received the award on August 14, 2023 in Butuan City. 

On behalf of Governor Angel Amante, Vice Governor Corvera expressed gratitude to everyone who rendered hard work and dedication to achieving such an esteemed award. He emphasized that the provincial government, through the efforts of the PDRRMO, remains committed to assisting the province's residents, both in times of calamity and during stable periods.

In addition to the province's recognition, the municipalities of Las Nieves, Carmen, RTR, Tubay, Jabonga, and Kitcharao were also honored as "Beyond Compliant" local government units. Meanwhile, the city of Cabadbaran and the municipalities of Buenavista, Nasipit, Magallanes, and Santiago were acknowledged as "Fully Compliant."

Furthermore, the provincial DRRMO received  a Certificate of Commendation for its invaluable support and substantial contribution to the successful implementation of activities during the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month. 

Additionally, PDRRM officer Erma Suyo was honored with a plaque of appreciation in recognition of her expert insights shared during the Usapang Resilience held on July 14, 2023 in Butuan City. (Karen Decamotan, PLGU Agusan del Norte)
