FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Soldiers recover firearms of CTG in SurSur

Tagbina, Surigao del Sur -- The soldiers under the 701st Infantry Brigade recovered an M16 rifle and a .45 caliber pistol during the armed encounter against the communist terrorist group (CTG) on July 24, 2023, in Barangay Santa Juana, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

Also recovered at the encounter site were ammunition, communication equipment, personal belongings of the communist- new people's army (NPA) terrorists, and subversive documents with high intelligence value.

Likewise, the municipalities of Tagbina and Hinatuan activated their respective Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (MDRRMC) and distributed relief goods to the affected residents of Sitio Almaria, Barangay Bigaan of Hinatuan town, and Barangay Santa Juana in Tagbina town, all in Surigao del Sur.

After the incident, Hinatuan Mayor Shem "Titing" Garay immediately visited and responded to the needs of the affected residents.

In his message, 10th Infantry (Agila) Division Commander Major General Jose Eriel M Niembra lauded the cooperation and support of the people in Surigao del Sur in reporting CTG presence in their area.

"We call on the remaining communist NPA terrorists in Surigao Del Sur to surrender and avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E_CLIP)  so you can live in peace together with your families," MGen.
