DOST Caraga, CSU conduct forum on innovative packaging, labelling in PDI 

SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga, in partnership with Caraga State University (CSU), recently concluded the Packaging and Labelling Innovation Center (PLIC) Forum in San Jose, Dinagat Islands on May 5, 2023.

The forum promoted the services offered by PLIC, which is located at CSU Butuan City, the first innovation center in Mindanao specializing in packaging and labelling.

The forum was well-attended by representatives from local business enterprises, provincial line agencies, and offices, including Elmer Natad, provincial director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Engr. Milagrosa B. Bulawan, provincial director of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the Congressional Office, and the Dinagat Islands business chamber.

Engr. Emman Lliam Prisco of DOST Caraga and experts from PLIC CSU led the discussion on the science behind packaging materials, mandatory labelling requirements, and the latest packaging developments. The topics raised participants' awareness of the importance of packaging and labelling and its innovations, relative to the services and assistance offered by PLIC CSU.

The forum emphasized the importance of continuous innovation and collaboration in enhancing the packaging and labelling processes in the industry and its vital role in improving local practices in the region. DOST Caraga and PLIC encouraged businesses and partner agencies to seek their assistance to ensure the safety and protection of local products.

The DTI Dinagat Islands played an active role as a proactive partner in the successful conduct of the forum.
