(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Sunday, 28 May 2023) At 3:00 AM today, the center of the eye of Typhoon "BETTY" {MAWAR} was estimated based on all available data at 825 km East of Northern Luzon (17.1°N, 129.5°E), with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 215 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 20 km/h. Southwesterly Windflow affecting the western sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Trough of TY BETTY / Southwesterly Windflow. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. Moderate to Strong winds coming from West to Southwest will prevail with Moderate to Rough seas / (2.5 to 5.0 meters).

SurSur LMP supports tourism campaign of DOT

The members of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Surigao del Sur Chapter successfully convened for its 1st chapter meeting for Calendar Year 2023, presided by president and Carrascal Mayor Vicente H. Pimentel III, held today, May 17 at VML Hotel in Tandag City.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga Regional Director Ivonnie Dumadag, Provincial Tourism Officer Mary Vil Chan, and all municipal tourism officers in the province reportedly participated in the discussion on boosting the tourism industry  as it is one of the priority goals of the chapter.

During the conference, the LMP president said, “I am very much grateful to the support and participation of all mayors and respective representatives, municipal tourism officers, especially to RD Dumadag of the DOT Caraga and provincial tourism officer Chan as it was indeed a meaningful discussion.'

Pimentel hoped that they can implement all the plans and proposed programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) of the chapter and can give fruitful impact to the people of Surigao del Sur a soon as possible. (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
