Investment forum highlights livestock-raising opportunities in SurSur

CARRASCAL, Surigao del Sur --  An Investment Forum was recently conducted by the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur headed by Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) held at the Function Hall, Oasis Beach View Resort Carrascal, Surigao del Sur, to promote the lucrative business on livestock farming.

About 50 participants, comprising of farm owners, farmers association leaders, backyard raisers, and investors were apprised of the industry updates.

Programs and services under OPAg and Department of Agriculture-Caraga, present-day market preferences, and business opportunities were also shared to the audience.

Provincial Agriculturist Marcos Quico, in his message, emphasized that through bolstered collaboration between concerned agencies and the raisers, the livestock industry in Surigao del Sur will gain attraction and this will play a big role in the Agri-business development of the province.

Guest speakers from the National Dairy Authority (NDA), Dr. Kent Venci, Leonito Denso of Landbank of the Philippines, Stella Mae Quico of Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), Edwum Luminarias of Sowreap Corporation, Gersham Martinez of DA-Caraga and the Outstanding Rural Women Awardee,  Emily Nemis, also shared their thoughts and programs of their respective agencies.
