LGU San Miguel employees undergo GAD training

SAN MIGUEL, Surigao del Sur -- The local government unit of San Miguel headed by Mayor Michael Corilla through the Municipal Human Resource Management Office facilitated the conduct of Gender and Development Focal Point System (GAD-FPS) training to 45 rank-and-file employees together with their office head at Dotties Place Hotel, Butuan City on April 25 to 26,2023.

The training increased the participants' understanding of gender as social constructed and the roles of social institutions in reinforcing and perpetuating gender inequalities. It allowed the employees to recognize personal gender biases through awareness on gender myths and facts. 

The said activity covered diferent methodologies such as,  talks and workshops that tackled the topics of the Basic Laws Protecting Women, Commission on Human Rights (CHR) mandate on Gender Equality and Gender Fair Language as  elaborated by Atty. Joyce Ann P. Adlawan from the CHR Caraga, and Oliver O. Salino, CHR training specialist II.

Mayor Corilla in his message emphasized the importance of gender and sensitivity training for open communication among different sexes that will result to mutual understanding and respect to one another and their roles.

Sangguniang Bayan member Linibeth Tabaranza, on the other hand supported the mayor to mainstream AD and to develop a gender-responsive environment in the municipality of San Miguel. (NGPB/Earl Adam S. Lambaco-MIO San Miguel/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
