ATI trains CNHS students and parents on urban gardening
CARRASCAL, Surigao del Sur -- The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) -
Caraga Regional Training Center successfully conducted a two-day technical briefing
and establishment of an urban vegetable garden in Carrascal National High
School, participated by selected 4-H Club members and their parents.
The main goal of the activity is to empower the learners of CNHS and implement
the strategy on "Learning by Doing."
This is part of Gulayan sa Paaralan Project (GPP) initiative known to be one of
the programs under the National Greening Program of the Department of Education
(DepEd), which advocates the importance of farming through self-help food
production activities and fostering the appreciation of agriculture as a life
support system.
The two-day briefing IS designed based on lecture cum hands-on activities where
participants and learners are engaged in topics like what is urban gardening,
urban garden designs, and the construction of various types of plant growers.
As part of the training, learners build and construct some unique vertical
growers, wherein garden tools, input, and other logistical needs were provided
by ATI, (Carrascal FITS Center/PIA-Surigao del Sur).
