Coco seedlings unloads for Dinagat farmers

SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands -- A year after Super Typhoon Odette devastated the Province of Dinagat Islands, coconut farmers can heave a sigh of relief as more than 40,000 coconut seedlings arrived recently at the Port of San Jose in the Province of Dinagat Islands.

This project of the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands intends to replace the coconut trees damaged by the calamity.

Transported by the Philippine Navy on board BRP Tagbanua (LC 296), the Terminal Management Office of Dinagat, and the Port of San Jose’s Cargo Handling Operator, helped facilitate the unloading of the seedlings which came all the way from Zamboanga.

Port charges and other fees were waived in the spirit of good corporate citizenship and social responsibility. (PPA-Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
