DPWH completes Tulay ng Pangulo in Buenavista

BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday turned over the newly completed “Universal Bridge” located at Purok 8 Tinago, Brgy. Matabao to the Local Government Unit of Buenavista.

The project was funded by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) under the Tulay ng Pangulo Para sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo.

The two-lane steel bridge valued at  P20 Million has a total length of 28.80 linear meters with road and carriageway width of 7.0 linear meters. It was completed in 4 months by the Bridges Management Cluster of the Unified Project Management Office of DPWH Central Office.

The “Universal Bridge” is a joint project of the Philippine and French governments, has been a source of pride for the whole Filipino nation as it opens great opportunities to enhance their socio-economic well-being. According to DPWH UPMO Project Engineer Norman Puy, it is made of “pre-fabricated materials imported from France” and the bridge has a lifespan of 50 to 75 years.

The turnover ceremony was highlighted with the message of Agusan del Norte governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell Amante, who emphasized the essence of unity among the leaders and constituents for good governance and sustainability.

“The people of Buenavista must understand that projects are not for us but this is actually for them. If all your leaders are in synced and in one tune, one song, it is easier for the delivery even if we have to get funds from outside but at least we are one in putting up our priorities,” the governor expressed.

She added that there is so much blessing when people are united. People should invest through their votes by choosing a leader who delivers through performance not just talk and deliver nothing.

Amante affirmed that the bridge project in New Bohol, Brgy. Sangay is already funded, and announced that the comprehensive drainage system project in (población) Buenavista will be started next year.

Buenavista Mayor Joselito T. Roble said this new bridge is a blessing, and with a grateful heart he thanked Congressman Dale Corvera, Gov. Amante, DAR, and DPWH for bringing this dream into reality.

“Hanoy na ang pagbiyahe sa ang atong marine products gikan dinhi sa Tinago nga mugawas sa Buenavista, hanoy napud ang padagan sa mga sakyanan sa atong turista nga muanhi sa matag resort, ug dili lang ta dinhi taman kay aduna napud flood protection project para dinhi (Tinago) ug padulong sa baybay (Tinago) (Bringing the marine products to other places will now be easier, transporatation and tourists can now have a good raod access in going to and pro our beaches),” Roble said.

Rev. Fr. Joselito T. Galido, Parish Priest of St. James the Great Parish officiated the blessing and dedication of the newly-completed bridge.

The project turnover ceremony was also attended by PARO Loida Jones, PARO Glen A. Petilla, Municipal Vice mayor Ramon AG. Bungabong, Sangguniang Bayan members, Brgy. Matabao Council headed by Brgy. Captain Edna A. Tabanao. (LGU Buenavista/PIA Agusan del Norte)
