Possible landslides or flashfloods due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Rest of Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Easterlies. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 2.5 meters).

Two high-ranking CTG members surrender to SurSur authorities

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur --  With the relentless efforts of the Surigao del Sur operatives, two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CGT) surrendered to the police authorities last March 1, 2023.

Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (SDSPPO) Director Police Colonel Dennis Siruno identified the surrenderees as a.k.a. “Den”, 50 years old, married, farmer, and a former MASA President/Medicine Carrier/Militia ng Bayan of Guerilla Front 20 North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) and a.k.a. “Gian”, 28 years old, male, single with live-in partner, farmer, and a former Squad leader, Squad 1 ABE of Platoon 7, GFC19A, SRC Southland NEMRC.

Alias Den surrendered to Bislig City Police Station together with his one unit .38 caliber without serial number and one rifle grenade launcher.

On the other hand, Alias  Gian voluntarily surrendered to the personnel of Surigao del Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company (SDS 1st PMFC) and Cagwait Municipal Police Station.

“May this continuous success of the intensified campaign against terrorism and insurgency will serve as an encouragement for the other members of the Communist Party of the Philippines - New People's Army (CPP-NPA) to courageously return to the folds of the law and live a new life with their families toward lasting peace and development," Siruno said.

Surrendered CTG members along with their firearms and explosive device are now in the custody of Bislig City Police Station and Cagwait Municipal Police Station for further investigation, custodial debriefing, and processing  of their possible enrollment to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).
