LGU-Cantilan commends DA for tangible assistance to farmers
CANTILAN, Surigao del Sur -- Local Chief Executive Philip Pichay of the Local
Government Unit of Cantilan of this province commended the tangible
assistance of the Department of Agriculture Caraga to the local farmers, during
the opening program of the two-day Fertilizer Discount Voucher (FDV)
Distribution in the LGU starting today, February 9 until February 10,
2023.
A total of 476 rice farmers from the LGU have received the fertilizer discount
vouchers from the DA - Rice Program. The
voucher will be utilized to purchase urea fertilizers (46-0-0) from the partner
fertilizer merchants.
According to the LCE, the program is in line with the LGU's Fertilizer Subsidy
Program which aims to help local farmers increase rice production and
minimize production costs by providing fertilizer inputs. The program
also cushions the potential impacts of the under-application of urea fertilizer
to palay production and sustain the suffiiciency of rice supply in the country.
