Security screeners return bag with cash, valuables

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The culture of honesty is indeed alive and visible among the security screeners manning the baggage X-ray machines at the Port of Surigao.

Over the weekend, Security Screeners Dylene Nabi, Ghenlyn Tartar and Jessa C. Pabalate found and turned over to the Port Police Officer on Duty, a "Black Sling Bag" left at the Port of Surigao Baggage X-Ray Machine. The bag contained P12,000 cash, identification cards and other valuables.

PPO1 Edmar Senados, the port police officer on duty, did not waste time in locating the presumed owner as indicated in the identification card found inside the bag.

Within minutes, Ms. Lorena E. Mindana, Administrative Assistant III of Siargao District Hospital, and a resident of Brgy. 1, Dapa, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, showed up to claim the bag.

Upon proper verification, the bag was returned to the owner. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
