Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. Minimal to minor threat to life and property due to strong winds. Northern Mindanao and the rest of Caraga will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to TS “Ada”. Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized Thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. The eastern section of Mindanao will have moderate to strong winds from west to southwest with moderate to rough seas (2.1 to 3.4 meters). The rest of Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas (0.6 to 2.5 meters). At 3:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm "ADA" {NOKAEN} was estimated based on all available data at 270 km East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar (12.1°N, 127.9°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. It is moving Northwestward at 20 km/h. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

Caraganon supports DOST’s RSTW 2022

BUTUAN CITY – Caraganons from various sectors are set to participate in the lined-up activities for the 2022 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) on October 19 to 23 in this city,  spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga.

According to Engr. Noel Ajoc, regional director of DOST-Caraga, bared that this is an annual event which will serve as an avenue to bring together stakeholders, entrepreneurs and science enthusiasts to witness the latest technologies, new innovative products using local resources, and relevant research and development outputs useful for communities.

“There will be  series of activities for this week-long celebration along with the science and technology exhibits at Robinson’s Place Butuan. We are glad to inform you that the DOST Secretary, Dr. Renato Solidum, Jr. will be attending the said event,” said Ajoc.

Engr. Ajoc invites the public to join the motorcade within the city thoroughfares, and witness the opening ceremonies on October 19 at the Robinson’s Main Atrium. A Press Conference will also follow at the Go Hotels Function Hall of said mall. 

The RSTW is a weeklong, annual celebration that introduces and recognizes Research and Development (R&D) outputs. It also aims to increase awareness and market adaptable technologies and programs of DOST that are available and beneficial to clients. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
