For a Healthy Tagbina: LGU Celebrates 48th Nutrition Month

TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur --  With the participation of the different barangays, private sectors, and the communities, the Local Government Unit of Tagbina, headed by the Municipal Mayor Hon. Glaiza Jane Polizon-Lanete led the celebration of the country’s annual celebration of Nutrition Month, an event that converged different activities in the pursuit of health and wellness on July 22.

This year’s theme “New Normal Na Nutrisyon Sama-samang Gawan ng Sulosyon” was reflected in the full-packed program and activities facilitated/organized by the LGU at the Tagbina Gymnasium, Tagbina, Surigao del Sur.

The ever-energetic people of Tagbina rose early for the commencement of a Zumba Exercise at 5:00AM. This was then followed by a Color Fun Run held at 6:00AM. The excitement was even intensified by different contests held at 1:00PM which included the following: Market Display, Cooking Contest, Nutri-Quiz (for Pregnant Women and Pre-Scholar Children), Nutri-Dance, Nutri-Jingle, Poster Making, and Pitik Contest. These activities were held simultaneously at the same venue.

Mayor Galay Lanete, in her speech, highlighted the various initiatives of the municipality toward health. Tagbina will be expanding the Feeding Program funded by the Local Children Protection Council alongside health subsidies to all barangays. Additionally, the pregnancy of the Tagbinanhon women will be eased by providing milk, multi-vitamins, and medicines.

On top of these, a new flagship program named “MAYOR GALAY CARES” will be launched to attain zero mortality rates for pregnant women.

The celebration concluded with the Socials and Acquaintance Party for the LGU at 5:00 PM onwards on the same day, with a Back-to-Back Live Band. Truly, the commitment to health and wellness was emphasized through the collaborative effort and support of the Tagbinanhons. (LGU-Tagbina, SDS)
