Government Troops Engage in IP Dialogue

CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte --  An inter-agency visitation was conducted to reach out to various Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) and Indigenous People (IPs) from the municipalities of Remedios Trinidad Romuldez, Cabadbaran City, and Tubay, all of Agusan del Norte, on Friday, held at Covered Court, Brgy Putting Bato, Cabadbarad City.

The said activity was spearheaded by the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) Caraga together with the Indigenous People Mandatory Representative of Agusan del Norte, Datu Dakula Randy Catarman, Vice Mayor of Cabadbaran City, Hon. Rey G Jamboy, 29th Infantry "Matatag" Battalion, 65IB, and various line agencies in Agusan del Norte.

The visit aimed to meet and talk with IP leaders and elders to know about their issues and concerns, especially on  the management of their ancestral domain, and to assess how the government, through the various local units and agencies, will help them, particularly in their agricultural livelihood for sustainability and in maintaining peace and order in the area.

Likewise, Col. Jason M. Saldua, Commanding Officer of 29IB, expressed his gratitude: "I am truly grateful for the presence of everyone in this peace dialogue." It is always good to see various agencies of the government collaborate to come up with a solution to address the various issues and concerns of the people. "Our mandate is to bridge the gaps and resolve issues by providing the right services needed by the people, especially in those geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS)."

"With your active support, we can maintain and achieve an inclusive peace in your communities." "Rest assured that the 29IB will always be here to help you and do its best to secure and protect the people," he added. (2Lt. Rose Ann Mae U. Cordova, CMO Officer, 29IB PA/PIA Agusan del Norte)
