Top 2 Most Wanted in Caraga, CTG team Leader neutralized during PNP Caraga's simultaneous ops
BUTUAN CITY -- A total of four wanted Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members, including the Top Two Most Wanted in Caraga region were arrested, while a team leader and nine others surrendered to different police units in the province of Surigao del Sur following the successful one-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) on June 24, per report from Police Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat, Jr., Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 Director.
Among those who were arrested by joint personnel of Lanuza Municipal Police Station (MPS), Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) together with Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 13; PIU, Surigao del Norte PPO; 15th Special Action Company (SAC), 1st Special Action Battalion (SAB), Special Action Force (SAF); and 36th Infantry Battalion, 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army were Joniel Macsabejon Tio alias ‘Dan’, Jiesele Juntilla Montecillo alias ‘Jeciel’, Ronelo Sual Cahelog alias ‘Botron/Roy-Roy’, and Candelario Bestodio Gontilla alias ‘Candelario Juntilla’, all with standing Warrants of Arrest issued by local courts in the region.
RD Caramat, said that alias ‘Dan’ was arrested at the boundary of Carrascal, Surigao del Sur, and Claver in Surigao del Norte province at about 3:30 p.m., based on the strength of a warrant of arrest for the crimes of Attempted Murder docketed under Criminal Case No. 8358-21 dated April 29, 2021 with a recommended bail of Php120,000.00 and Frustrated Murder docketed under Criminal Case No. 8319-21 dated May 3, 2021 with a recommended bail of Php200,000.00, all issued by Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Branch 40, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
Citing the report from Lanuza MPS in Surigao del Sur, alias ‘Dan’ is a Medic of Team 1, Squad 1, Platoon 1 of Guerrilla Front 30, North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) and is listed as the number two most wanted person of PNP Caraga. He was accused of involvement in recent atrocities in the town of Lanuza, such as the killing of a former barangay official last April 29, 2021, and the burning and harassment of MR1 construction that claimed two innocent lives last June 24, 2021.
The accused and the confiscated rifle grenade in his possession during his arrest are placed in the custody of Lanuza MPS for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, PRO13's unyielding pursuit of enlightening our brothers and sisters blinded by the twisted ideology of Marxist revolutionary resulted in the surrender of 10 CTG members and eight firearms with ammunition.
Among those who surrendered is alias ‘Jovit’, 27, a former member of Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda (SYP) and a Team Leader of Team Alfa of Guerilla Front 19, together with his one improvised home-made shotgun.
Alias ‘Jovit’ surrendered to authorities after serving the movement for five years since 2017 in his quest to find a more peaceful and comfortable way of living.
Also, alias ‘May-may’ returned to the folds of law after being part of an Armed Propaganda Team (APT) of the CTG movement from 1998 to 2005, operating in some far-flung barangays of Lingig, Surigao del Sur, and other parts of Davao de Oro.
Meanwhile, the others who surrendered were: alias ‘May’ with his one unit Cal. 38 revolvers with four live ammunition; alias ‘Bert’, along with his improvised revolver pistol loaded with 5.56mm ammunition; alias ‘Ron-Ron’ together with his one Improvised Explosive Device (IED); alias ‘DJ’ together with his one caliber .38 revolver with five live ammunition and one M203 grenade ammunition; alias ‘Datu Tubod’ along with his one rifle grenade; alias ‘Clad’ together with his one unit caliber .45 pistol without Serial number with five ammunition; and alias ‘Joker’; and alias ‘JP’ along with his one improvised home-made shotgun.
"These accomplishments will significantly contribute to the inevitable downfall of the Communist Terrorist Group, who are now gradually suffering a major setback following the massive surrender of their supporters and the series of arrests of their members with arrest warrants. The entire PNP organization urges those still involved in more than 50 years of revolution which is doomed to fail to choose a more peaceful and meaningful way of life in the government's care," RD Caramat said.
