FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Multi-sectoral forest protection committee ng Caraga region patuloy ang programang protektahan ang kalikasan

LUNGSOD NG BUTUAN -- Bamboo plantation ang nakitang sagot at ngayo’y focus ng mining companies sa Caraga region  para mas lalo pang maalagaan at mapanatili ang kagandahan ng kalikasan.

Sa pangunguna ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Mines and Geosciences Bureau (DENR-MGB) Caraga ang pagtatanim ng kawayan sa mga mining areas na kung saan mahigit 836 ektaryas  ang nakalaan sa buong rehiyon.

Ayon kay Christie Apale ng MGB Caraga, kahit panahon ng COVID-19 pandemic ay patuloy pa rin ang mga mining companies sa kanilang commitment ng bamboo plantation.

Sa ngayon ay natamnan na ng kawayan ang nasa mahigit 250 ektarya, nitong first semester ng taong 2022. 

“Bamboos are interplanted with the other tree species of the mining companies as rehabilitation measures. Ang purpose is not for economic but for rehabilitation sa area, ” ayon ni Apale.

Sa ulat naman ng National Greening Program coordinator sa caraga region na si Forester Luis Gonzaga, umabot na sa mahigit 183 thousand ektarya ang nataniman ng iba’t ibang species ng kahoy sa rehiyon.

“Base sa seedling production target namin sa 2022 na 10,704,622, meron na kaming accomplishment na 5,297,967,” tugon ni Gonzaga. (NCLM/PIA Agusan del Norte)
