DA conducts Info Caravan on urban gardening, organic agriculture

BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga  conducted a series of Information Caravan on Urban Gardening and Organic Agriculture Management Practices on May 17-20, 2022 in Bayugan City and San Francisco in Agusan del Sur, and Bislig City and Tandag City in Surigao del Sur.

The participants were Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Barangay Officials.

The activity was spearheaded by the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) in coordination with the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) and Organic Agriculture Program (OAP).

Emmylou Tereso Presilda, Chief of RAFIS said that DA continues to promote Urban Agriculture because it is one way to ensure that every Filipino family has access to food since they already have their own food source through their backyard vegetable garden.

Jessica D. Sumoray, HVCDP Technical Staff, Glen Tabiola, and Carlo Bryan Dumampias, OA Program Technical Staff served as Resource Speakers for the activity.

The same activity continues on May 24 and 25 in Cabadbaran City, Butuan City and Surigao City. (DA-RFO XIII, RAFIS/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
