Renunciation of rebels continues, NPA Vice TL yields

BUTUAN CITY -- With President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's remaining days of his term, his strong directive against anti-insurgency continues, resulting in the surrender of the New People's Army (NPA) Vice Team Leader on May 13, 2022.

Police Brigadier General Romeo M Caramat, Jr., PRO13 Director, revealed that the surrenderer known to be the Vice Team Leader was identified as alias Jasper, 25 years old, from Squad 1, Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda (SYP), Platoon 1, Dismantled Guerilla Front (DGF) 88, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC).

Accordingly, the lies and broken promises of the rebels prompted him to lay down his arms to the government.

Alias Jasper yielded to Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Office Intelligence Unit and San Luis Municipal Police Station and handed over one unit Cal. 38 revolvers with defaced serial number.

According to Agusan del Sur police report, alias Jasper was recruited by the rebel group and a red fighter for eight years, promising monthly financial assistance for his family.

Based on the report, since the assumption of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, a total of 1,433 communist members have surrendered to Caraga police. The PNP is hoping for more number of rebels to surrender in PNP Caraga as the term of the Commander-in-Chief will soon end.

Alias Jasper is currently undergoing debriefing/interview by the personnel of ADS PIU for possible enrollment in the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP). (PMaj Dorothy Tumulak, PIO, PNP-Caraga/ PIA-Agusan del Sur)
