Surigao port gets Safety Seal Certification

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Baseport of the Port Management of Surigao gets the much-coveted Safety Seal Certification after a team led by Department of Local and Interior Government (DILG)-Surigao del Norte verified its compliance and adherence with the minimum public health standards set forth to contain the spread of COVID 19 and prevent future surges.

The Safety Seal was issued on March 14, 2022, after representatives of the DILG-Surigao del Norte, Philippine National Police (PNP)-Surigao City, and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Surigao City conducted an on-site ocular inspection and verification of the Port of Surigao’s buildings and physical facilities. Acting Port Manager Froilan Caturla received the seal on behalf of the Philippine Ports Authority – Port Management Office (PPA-PMO) Surigao.

Caturla said that the issuance of a Safety Seal Certification for the Port of Surigao only proves that the PPA seriously implements what it has been advocating since the start of the pandemic – the observance of health protocols and ensuring that its buildings are adequately ventilated. Caturla added that other terminal ports under PMO Surigao are now working for the issuance of their respective Safety Seal Certifications in accordance with DILG guidelines.
