DTI Caraga to showcase products of local women entrepreneurs in a month-long trade fair

BUTUAN CITY -- Celebrating the success of women entrepreneurs in the region, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Caraga will conduct the Buy Caraga By Caraga: Women OTOPrenuer Trade Fair on March 1-31, 2022.

In time with Women's Month, the trade fair targets to showcase products of women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that have been assisted by the Department through its One Town One Product (OTOP) Next Generation program.

“This trade fair will provide women entrepreneurs a venue for them to promote their products and expand their market,” said Regional Director Gay Tidalgo.

Tidalgo added that this annual activity will highlight women’s capability to be economically empowered.

In partnership with SM City Butuan, which will also be the venue of the trade fair, DTI-Caraga will set up five booths devoted to the exhibit of each province of the region.

“Aside from showcasing the MSMEs’ new and improved products, this will also be a venue to create and expand markets for our locally produced products,” Tidalgo said.

Tidalgo encourages the public to support home-grown products and visit the trade fair that will showcase handicrafts, wearables, beverages, fresh and processed foods, and other local products of the region.

Total sales of PhP300,000 is targeted to be generated in the entire duration of the trade fair.

As a priority stimulus program, OTOP Next Gen aims to provide a package of assistance to capacitate the MSMEs. This includes product development initiatives, training, referral, and others with the goal of leveling up the products in the areas of design, quality, volume, among others. (DTI-Caraga/PIA-Caraga)
