Siargao school feeding program receive aid from private org

DAPA, Surigao del Norte -- Basic education schools in General Luna town, province of Surigao del Norte have begun distributing their feeding supplies from the Skokiaan Foundation from Germany.

The Dao Primary School and Magsaysay Elementary School I, has initially distributed Saturday, February 5, the feeding supplies to their 110 learners and 10 teaching staff courtesy of the said foreign foundation.

The implementation of their feeding program will also now be made three months instead of two, schools' cluster head Meriam Jabines shared with DepEd-Siargao schools division superintendent Dr. Nelia S. Lomocso, who facilitated the distribution with select personnel.

“Duha ka buyan ra man actually an amo tagbutang sa proposal, but luckily tagdugangan nan isa pa ka buyan nan Skokiaan Foundation provided na madajaw an amo implementation (We only indicated two months in our proposal but luckily, the Skokiaan Foundation extended it for another month, provided that our implementation will go well),” Jabines said.

“We are thankful to have been granted this assistance. We will make all our transactions transparent and set our implementation properly because this is the only way we can make them satisfied,” she added.

The Skokiaan Foundation has allocated PHP222,300 budget for the month of February, and the next fund transfer will be in the following months.

On the other hand, Lomocso said she will write a letter addressed to Skokiaan Foundation to convey her gratitude for having such a generous initiative, which is instrumental for the department’s rebuilding efforts. (Edgar R. Gorgonio, Jr./DepEd-Siargao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
