(PAGASA 24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST as of Tuesday, 25 November 2025) At 3:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Depression "VERBENA" was estimated based on all available data over the coastal waters of Cuyo, Palawan (10.8°N, 120.9°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 25 km/h. Shear Line affecting the eastern section of Luzon. Northeast Monsoon affecting the rest of Northern Luzon. CARAGA will have rains with gusty winds caused by TD Verbena. Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains. Minimal to minor threat to life and property due to strong winds. Rest of Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to TD VERBENA. Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains. Moderate winds from northwest to southwest prevails on the rest of Mindanao, with moderate seas (1.5 to 2.5 meters).

MGB intensifies environmental protection campaign in Caraga

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) in Caraga intensified its environmental protection campaign through the conduct of virtual information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign and enhancement program in Caraga Minerals Industry on June 30, 2021 via Zoom platform.

The activity was conducted in keeping with the 2021 Philippine Environment Month celebration with the theme, "Sama-samang Pagkilos, Sama-samang Paghilom. Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan." 

It was also aimed to intensify the participants' awareness of the regulatory functions of the MGB particularly its Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program.

On behalf of MGB-13 OIC-Regional Director Larry M. Heradez, MGB XIII Chief Geologist Romeo M. Dalodado delivered his welcome remarks. 

It was followed by the rationale which was imparted by Engr. Roland Joie G. Geli, Engineer II and MGB XIII Principal Youth Desk Officer. 

Dir. Heradez and Dr. Queen Ann M. Navallo, Assistant School Principal II of Surigao del Norte National High School delivered their messages.

The morning session featured the discussion on Forest and Mining by Enjie G. Pacillos-CaƱete and Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program by Christie Q. Asumen-Apale.

For the afternoon session, Engr. Elmer Tecson, City Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Surigao City ENR Office, shared the Solid Waste Management Implementation of Surigao City. EnP. Jesalyn Abonates-Guingguing, Tenement and Environmental Manager of Agata Mining Ventures, Inc., also discussed the environmental protection and enhancement program of the mines.

After the presentations, an open forum ensued wherein the participants raised issues and concerns related to the topics presented.

A TV commercial, Kutsara, and an online advertisement, Minsan Kitang Minahan, produced by the MGB for its #MineResponsibility Campaign, along with award-winning environmental videos produced by Caraga mining firms, were viewed by the participants during the virtual activity. (MGB 13/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
