PSA launches Step 2 registration for PhilSys in Butuan City

BUTUAN CITY, Jun. 22 -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Caraga officially launched the second step of registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) on Monday, June 21, 2021, in this city.

A registration center was established at SM City Butuan at the third level to accommodate registrants who wish to complete the second step of the registration.

PSA Caraga Chief Statistical Analyst Reynelo Magno said that amid the pandemic, the government is striving to create a systematic identification system for every Filipino.

With PhilSys, public and private transactions will be made seamless, safe, and efficient through a singular and formal identification system. PhilSys will also boost and ease the delivery of services by improving the public’s access to financial, social protection, health, education, and other government services,” he said.

According to Frank Nicol Marba, Public Relations Officer of SM City Butuan, the PhilSys Step 2 Registration at SM City Butuan will last for a year, and targets to accommodate at least 540 registrants per day. Registrants may register online for ease of transaction through https://register.philsys.gov.ph/

"Being a staunch supporter of safe community building, SM City Butuan aims to provide a convenient avenue for Butuanons to file for their ID," said Marba.

The PSA is targeting around 1.8 million Caraganons to register for the national ID system, with 415,800 from the vulnerable sectors, low-income households, and those without access to the internet.

In Butuan City, a total of 91,659 residents from 37 barangays have already completed the step 1 of the three-step registration process. (Doreen Mariel Rosales/FNMarba/SM City Butuan/PIA-Caraga)
