Caraga farmers
receive cash assistance from DA

BUTUAN CITY, May 5 (PIA) -- More than 19,000 farmers in Caraga region
have received the financial assistance from the Department of
Agriculture (DA), with a total amount of P96.4-million.
Under the Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA)
Program of DA, qualified farmers were able to receive 5,000 pesos each.
According to DA-Caraga regional director Abel James
Monteagudo, the RFFA intends to assist the farmers who are affected by the
decrease of the price of the unmilled rice or palay in this crisis situation.
Amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
pandemic, the DA-Caraga continues to extend said financial assistance to the
farmer sector to help their families cope with the daily needs.
Joseph Libres of Barangay Humilog in the
municipality of RTR, Agusan del Norte was among the farmer-beneficiaries who
thanked the government for the prompt response by providing the financial aid.
“I’m thankful to the government through the
Department of Agriculture for giving us this cash assistance because, without
this, we would not be able to provide the daily needs of our family during this
crisis on COVID-19,” Libres said.
Some 4,637 farmers from the province of Agusan del
Norte have benefited the cash assistance; 5,468 in Agusan del Sur; 5,018 in
Surigao del Sur; while 4,155 in Surigao del Norte.
With this development, the DA-Caraga acknowledged
the local government units for their effort to fast track the distribution of
said aid to the farmers.
Apart from it, the DA also offers the survival
and recovery loan assistance, wherein beneficiaries could pay within 10 years
without any interest charge.
Another is the agricultural competitiveness
enhancement fund, with only low-interest charge in order to help the sector
cope with their daily expenses.
Meanwhile, the distribution of cash assistance to
the farmer-beneficiaries is ongoing, and DA-Caraga targeted to reach some

GCQ imposed in
Caraga provinces; select Butuan villages still under ECQ

BUTUAN CITY, May 5 (PIA) -- The five provinces of Caraga region are
now under the general community quarantine (GCQ), however, tight border
lockdown is still implemented considering that there have been a number of
confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases recorded in the nearby
regions.
Governor Dale Corvera of Agusan del Norte and the
chairperson of the Regional Task Force COVID19 - One Caraga Shield, appealed to
all the Caraganons to continuously observe social distancing, as well as other
health protocols and preventive measures imposed by the task force to ensure
the protection of the people against the deadly disease.
There were 50 barangays in Butuan City that have
maintained the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)
as it already has three confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded in the region.
Hence, the local government unit enforces strict compliance of the people to
the guidelines to ensure that local transmission is prevented.
Governor Corvera also recalled that during the
first day of GCQ implementation in the region, there were already several
violators apprehended for not following and even showing concern on the harmful
effects brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile, with the GCQ implemented in the
provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del
Norte, Surigao del Sur and selected barangays in Butuan City, Governor Corvera
further called on the locals to observe the curfew hours, social distancing,
wearing of face mask, and other preventive measures to avert the spread of said

bantayan karon nga gibalik na ang General Community Quarantine (GCQ) nga
reglamento sa kampanya kontra COVID-19 sa probinsya atol sa gihimong 3rd

Norte, depende kung asa sila nagpuyo.

at suspected cases ang mga kalapit na lugar nito.
Apila ni Gobernador Dale B. Corvera ng Agusan del
Norte at chairperson ng Regional Task Force COVID-19 - One Caraga Shield,
patuloy paring panatilihin ang social distancing at sundin ang mga patakaran na
napagkasunduan ng mga myembro ng regional task force upang mas maprotektahan
ang rehiyon.
May 50 barangays sa lungsod ng Butuan ang patuloy
na ipapatupad ang implementasyon ng enhanced community quarantine o ECQ dahil
dito nagmula ang tatlong positibo ng COVID-19 sa rehiyon kaya’t naniniguro ang
local government unit sa kaligtasan ng mga mamamayan at mababantayan ang mga
galaw ng mga taong nakatira dito.
Sa unang araw ng pagpapatupad ng GCQ sa rehiyon
ayon kay Gob. Corvera, may mga violators kaagad na nasita dahil hindi naunawan
at walang pakialam sa maging epekto ng COVID-19 para sa kanila.
Kahit paman nasa GCQ na ang rehiyon, patuloy pa rin
aniya ang paghihigpit ng mga papasok nito, patuloy ang pagpapatupad ng curfew
hours, social distancing, pagsusuot ng face mask at iba pang kailangang ipatupad
ng mga LGUs, kayat nananawagan si Gob. Corvera sa mga Caraganon na magtulongan
