PSA starts April 2020 labor force survey

BUTUAN CITY, April 17 -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office XIII (Caraga) has already started its 2020 April Labor Force Survey (LFS) here.

A total of 2,152 sample housing units/households in the region will be visited and about 38 Statistical Researchers and Field personnel are involved in the conduct of the said survey in the region.

Rider questions on the awareness of the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) and the Philippine Competition Act (PCA) or RA 10667, which serves as the primary competition law in the Philippines for promoting and protecting competitive market also added in this round of LFS.

The survey started on April 8, 2020 and will end on April 30, 2020. All the data and information collected by the hired field interviewers shall be kept strictly confidential and shall not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of RA 10625.

The LFS is a nationwide survey of households conducted quarterly to gather data on demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of the population. It is designed to provide statistics on the levels and trends of employment, unemployment and underemployment.

Tig-isang sakong bigas pinamigay sa isang bayan ng Surigao Sur

LUNGSOD NG TANDAG, Surigao del Sur, Abril 17 (PIA) -- Tumanggap ng tig-isang sako ng bigas ang mga residente sa bayan ng Bayabas, Surigao del Sur, ayuda eto mula sa lokal na pamahalaan na pinamumunuan ni Mayor Maria Clarita Limbaro, sa gitna ng kinakaharap na krisis ng buong bansa na dulot ng coronavirus disease 2019 o COVID-19.

Sinimulan ang pamamahagi noong Abril 6, at natapos nuong Abril 9. Ayon sa ulat, umabot sa 2,300 households mula sa pitong barangay ng nasabing bayan ang mga benepisyaryo nito.

Bilang pasasalamat ni Mayor Limbaro sa lahat ng Barangay Health Workers o BHWs, barangay tanod, at lahat ng mga frontliners, binigyan ito ng relief goods bawat isa sa kanila na naglalaman ng 6 kilos na bigas; 4 latang corned beef; 4 sardinas; 6 sachets 3in1 coffee, na tinatawag nilang “food packs 6-4-4-6.”

Umabot din sa 185 PUMs sa bayan ang binigyan ng food packs na 6-4-4-6, dalawang beses sa loob ng 14 na araw na  kwarentiya sa kanikanilang bahay.

Bukod dito, namahagi din ng subsidiyang gasolina ang lokal na pamahalaan sa mga pumpboat operators na mga mangingisda, para may sapat na supply sa kanilang bayan sa panahon ng pagpapatupad ng unified Enhanced Community Quarantine sa buong probinsya na idineklara ni Gobernador Alexander Pimentel noong Abril 8. Kasabay nito ang libreng renta ng mga negosyante sa pampublikong pamilihan ng kanilang palengke, upang mapanatili ang presyo sa mga basic commodities.

Dahil kanselado ang mga pampublikong sakayan sa pagpapatupad ng ECQ, lahat ng multi-cab operators at tricycle drivers ay binigyan na lamang ng dalawang beses na biyahe sa isang linggo. Ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Bayabas ang nagbabayad ng renta nito sa halagang P800 sa multicab at P400 naman sa mga tricycle bawat araw, na gagamiting pampublikong sakayan ng mga taong bibili ng mga pagkain at gamot nito habang nasa panahon ng kwarantiya.

Napag-alaman mula kay Municipal Agriculturist at designate Municipal DRRM officer Geralyn Guibao, umabot na sa 97 benepisyaryong magsasaka mula sa bayan ng Bayabas ang nakatanggap ng P5,000 bawat benepisyaryo nito mula sa Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RFFA) na ipinatutupad ng Department of Africulture (DA), as of April 14. (PIA-Surigao del Sur)
