Dapa food service providers undergo basic food safety orientation

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, July 13 (PIA) - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently conducted an orientation seminar on the Basics of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) – particularly on Food Safety held at the Islanders Ville Pension Hauz, Dapa town.

The seminar aims to give food service providers a set of sanitation guidelines for the physical and processing operations standards.

The seminar benefited 25 selected food service providers in Dapa town such as BBQ stand owners/vendors, restaurants, carenderia and food house owners and the like.

DTI Trade and Industry Development Specialist and Facilitator Malen Catamora said the orientation will make food service providers understand the importance of personal hygiene, provide awareness on food hazards and contamination, and the importance to ensure only quality products are produced.

“Owners and staffs should practice the basics of food safety since nowadays customer’s focus is on health and wellness," she said.

"This means that executing proper customer-service through cleanliness and food safety will surely increase sales and profits,” Catamora added.

The activity was conducted under the 2016 Bottom-up Budgeting project titled Small and Micro Enterprise Program in Dapa, with the aim of facilitating/providing an enabling mechanism that will hasten countryside development through opening of sustainable business opportunities in the locality.

Tagalog News: DepEd Caraga inilunsad ang ‘OK sa DepEd’ Program sa Butuan City

LUNGSOD NG BUTUAN, Hulyo 13 (PIA) - Kasabay sa 23 anibersaryo ng Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga, inilunsad din kamakailan ng ahensya ang Oplan sa Kalusugan o ‘OK sa DepEd’ program, kung saan ibinahagi ang mga makabuluhang pagbabagong natamo ng nasabing ahensya. 

Ayon kay DepEd Caraga regional director Beatriz Torno, ang ‘OK sa DepEd’ program ay ang pinag-isa, at mas lalo pang pinaigting na implementasyon ng kanilang limang nangungunang programa ng ahensya nan aka-base rin sa DepEd Order No. 28, series 2018 sa mga probinsya ng rehiyon. Ang mga programang ito ay ang water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) in schools; national drug education program; school-based feeding program; adolescent reproductive health education; at ang medical/dental and nursing services. 

Dagdag ni Manuel Cabarte, chief ng education support services division ng DepEd Caraga at regional coordinator ng nasabing programa, na mas naging organize ang pagbibigay nila ng mga serbisyo sa mag-aaral sa pagtugon ng mga pangangailangan nila kasama ang ibat-ibang ahensya ng gobyerno dahil mayroon na umanong mas epektibong stratehiya sa pagpapatupad ng mga ito.  

Ipinahayag naman ni Dir. Torno, na nasimulan din nya ang “Project Rockers”, kung saan mas pinabuti pa ang pagganap ng mga guro sa kanilang mga tungkulin, maging ng mga studyante, sa pamamagitan ng capacity building at professional development programs, at binigyang halaga rin niya ang pananaliksik at nang magamit rin ito bilang basehan sa pagbuo ng mga polisiyang makakatulong sa paglago sa education system sa rehiyon. 

Pinahahalagahan din niya umano ang pagpapatupad ng merit system, kung saan nalalagay sa tamang posisyon ang kanilang mga empleyado base sa kwalipikasyon nito at kapasidad sa pagganap ng tungkulin. May ilan-ilan na rin umanong pumasa sa principals test at sa career executive service written examination ang DepEd Caraga. 

Samantala, binigyang parangal naman ang mga regional winners sa ibat-ibang programa ng DepEd. Isa umano ito sa highlights ng kanilang anibersaryo – ang pagbibigay pugay sa mga naging tapat sa implementasyon ng mga programa mula sa ibat-ibang partner stakeholders ng rehiyon.Binati rin ni Dir. Torno ang mga bagong full-fledged assistant schools division superintendents at newly promoted regional office staff.

Nanawagan din si Dir, Torno sa kanyang mga kasama sa DepEd na maging bukas sa pakikipag-usap sa kanya sa anumang issues and concerns upang mabigyan agad ito ng solusyon. (PIA-Caraga)
