Surigao biz group presents CR+ID project outputs

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte, April 26 (PIA) - The Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated (SCCI) presented its Coordinating Road and Infrastructure Investments for Development (CR+ID) project outputs to the local government units during the Roll IT Validation and Assessment of Projects held recently at Hotel Tavern.

The said activity was initiated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The Roll IT Program is a partnership program between the DTI and DPWH that focused on funding road projects that lead to industries such as ports, airports, and terminals.

SCCI President Concepcion R. Paqueo, in her message during the event, said that the chamber will continue to support with the partner stakeholders on identifying strategic projects that will lead to economic development.

“In behalf of the chamber and the business sector in the province, I will continue to converge towards sustainable and inclusive growth,” Paqueo said. (SDR/SCCI/PIA-Surigao del Norte)


Army 401st Infantry Brigade runs over NPA camp in Agusan Sur

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur, April 26 (PIA) - Col. Andres Centino, commander of the 401st Infantry (Unity) Brigade of the Philippine Army (PA) based in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur bared that one of his battalions had run over an NPA camp early this week.

Crediting the feat to the 3rd Special Forces Battalion, he claimed that army troopers faced a tough fight during the “last two days.”  “Both sides had suffered casualties,” he admitted but stop short of giving more details.

The army official expressed pain about what happened, wishing to talk things over.

The offensive operation was linked to the April 24 National Democratic Front (NDF) founding anniversary celebration.

Col. Centino said that although his men failed to catch up with the rebels indicating that the enemies scampered for safety but went on to say that they did get to reach the training camp of the armed wing under the Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) located somewhere in Barangay San Juan, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur.

Also described near the mountainous areas of San Miguel town in Surigao del Sur, the camp was said to have a space enough to accommodate some 150 armed rebels.

Meanwhile, Centino stressed that his brigade had remained focused on conducting offensive actions.
